In June of 2024, we started making ASMR content inspired by real person hair play and massage videos. Before we knew it, we had found our amazing community of ZenHeads! Now we’re bringing the ASMR experience out of the phone and onto the massage table.
what is ASMR?
ASMR Stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It is a (recently-named) sensory phenomenon that causes a “tingling” sensation in response to different audio and visual stimuli.
Not everyone experiences ASMR, but some people who do report feeling calm, sleepy, and well-being when they “get the tingles”.
Common ASMR “triggers” include things like crispy sounds, slow movements, brushing, and whispers.
ASMR has become popular online. People watch ASMR videos to help them fall asleep, study, and just pass the time!
What is hair play?
Hair play is a category of “personal attention” ASMR that includes visuals and sounds of playing with someone’s hair. It’s most often associated with a sense of warm nostalgia (especially among women) with common themes like, “the girl in the back of the class plays with your hair” or “gentle hair styling at the salon”.
Bringing ASMR to the real world
Now, we’re on a mission to bring the magic from our ASMR into the real world by blending professional massage techniques from licensed massage therapists with ASMR sounds and tools that you know and love.
