At ZenHeads, we believe feeling your healthiest comes from feeling safe and cared for. We’re centered on creating the conditions where your body can naturally regulate itself again. Our favorite modalities are ones that work with the power of your nervous system to yield profound results.
Gentle Modalities We Love
-
ASMR, or autonomous sensory meridian response, is a sensation often described as deeply soothing, almost meditative. We use specialized tools and techniques to induce gentle tactile ASMR sensations, helping your body sink into a calmer, more restful state.
-
A gentle, rhythmic form of lymphatic massage designed to support the body’s natural drainage and healing processes. Using light, intentional movements, this technique helps reduce swelling, support immune function, and encourage relaxation.
-
A gentle, hands-on technique that focuses on releasing tension in the connective tissue (fascia) surrounding muscles. By applying slow, sustained pressure, this approach helps improve mobility, reduce chronic pain, and restore balance to the body.
-
A gentle, therapeutic massage that targets the muscles inside the mouth, jaw, and surrounding areas. This technique can help release tension, improve jaw mobility, and support relief from headaches, TMJ discomfort, and chronic facial tension.
What is ASMR Massage?
You’ll often see the ZenHeads name connected to ASMR massage. That’s because we’ve been pioneers in this space, helping people relax more deeply through the power of tactile ASMR and our widely loved ASMR scalp massage channels on social media (the origin of the ZenHeads name!).
Frequently Asked Questions
-
ASMR, or Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, is a gentle, calming sensation some people experience when exposed to certain visual, auditory, or tactile “triggers”. It often feels deeply relaxing and can help your nervous system settle.
Did you know that touch is one of the strongest reported ASMR triggers?
-
Tactile ASMR refers to the calming sensations some people experience through gentle touch. Techniques like hair brushing, back scratching, and slow, steady, light touch can help the nervous system settle and invite a deeply restful state.
At ZenHeads, we blend tactile ASMR techniques with flowing Swedish massage to create a relaxing, grounding experience that many clients find even more soothing than a traditional massage.
-
While all of our therapists are trained in our signature ASMR-inspired techniques, we do not use them in every session. We understand that everyone’s nervous system responds to touch differently, and not every technique is the right fit for every client.
Our ASMR massage is specifically designed to incorporate gentle, intentional touch like light brushing, soft scratching, and slow, mindful movements. For custom therapeutic sessions, there may be times when we decide that ASMR techniques aren’t the best choice for your body or your goals.
We also recognize that ASMR massage is new for many people, and trying new techniques can sometimes challenge the nervous system in ways we don’t want you to associate with ZenHeads. Rest assured, we will never use any technique that you aren’t fully informed about and comfortable with trying.
A note from Alyssa
Hey ZenHeads,
I started my massage journey about five years ago, after a head injury and chronic illness pushed me to slow my life wayyy down. A few years after that, I decided to speed things back up and make some relaxing ASMR videos as a side quest. It’s turned into this wonderful thing that I’m so excited to share with you all.
For most of my career, I’ve worked with clients… like me! People dealing with chronic illness and headaches. My main goal was always the same: helping them feel safe. When the body feels safe, it can relax, rest, and repair.
Seeing the relief my audience and volunteer models found through my ASMR videos was eye-opening. Hearing them say the sensations transported their minds to these warm, nostalgic places - playgrounds, mother’s hugs, sleepovers - felt so aligned with my overall belief that wellness and joy go hand in hand.
I knew right away ASMR was a tool I had to keep in my massage toolbox. And in the end it was the perfect complement to what was already becoming my signature style of relaxation massage for chronic care support.
Even though ZenHeads has grown a large audience, connecting with each of you still feels like connection on a small scale (which my little introverted heart loves). I’m really glad you’re here, and I can’t wait to meet you.
